SELAGINELLA "SPIKE MOSS"

The Selaginella is also called spike moss because it grows quickly in dense mats across the forest floor. Despite it being called a moss it is actually related to ferns, and has some of the same care requirements as a fern. 

Light: Low to medium indirect light would be best for this shade loving plant. 

Water: the spike moss wants evenly moist soil, water when the top half inch of the soil is dry. Allowing this plant to dry out too much can cause the tips of the leaves to turn brown. The soil should feel moist like a run out kitchen sponge, lightly damp to the touch but not dripping. 

Humidity: this plant does like high humidity and would love to be in a terrarium or near a humidifier. 

Keep this fast-growing plant in control by giving it a trim, the pieces you cut off can be propagated into new plants.
